Casting for the House of the Scorpion
Tam Lin: We chose Denzel Washington to be Tam Lin because we think he is very suitable because he looks like a bodyguard, and he also looks nice. We think he is fitting because he is kind and when he has done previous movies he has been able to employ a very protective but serious and dangerous person. He also could be scottish, because there are people of every ethnicity in scotland and ireland, and there is no direct quotation of his skin colour.
El Patron: We chose Marlon Brando to be El Patron because he played the main character in The Godfather, where he portrays a drug lord, just like El Patron in The House of the Scorpion. He is also very old looking, and seems trustable in business operations.
Rosa: We chose Geraldine James to be Rosa because she plays the same type of person in Sherlock Holmes, and she was very apt at playing that role, and she could very well portray a mean person.
Celia: We chose Octavia Spencer to be Celia because she seems like a very nice and caring person who would take care of her children and seems to have a very bright mood. Octavia Spencer is a very kind person, and seems to be the type of person who would care for somebody as much as Celia cares for Matt.
