I think the very first section moves a lot faster than it needs to. It starts all calm when Matt is a baby then it skips 5 years ahead to more calmness. ?WHAT HAPENED IN THOSE 5 YEARS? I think that event after the 5 years of nothing. Nothing happens and then Boom he nearly dies out of the blue. I don't really think that should have happened. Other than that Matt seems like a pretty superstitious guy. I think that farmer is trying to make it seem like everything is new for him and nothing is normal about him.
